COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER, WRAPPING, WET-WAXED
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description, for all Federal agencies.
Scope: This description covers wrapping paper which is used for wrapping food.
Classification. The wrapping paper covered by this commercial item description shall be of the following types, as specified (See Section 6, Ordering Data).
Type I- intended for use in bread wrapping or similar applications requiring self-sealing.
Type II- intended for general use in galleys, bakeries, commissaries, and for overwrapping wax dipped packages.
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. All materials use in the manufacture of wet-waxed paper shall conform to the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act and the regulation promulgated there under.
B. Paper shall be 100 percent bleached chemical wood pulp.
C. Wax shall be fully refined paraffin wax having a melting point of not less than 132oF.
