Note: 1/ The test method indicated, from FED-STD-191 Textile Test Method, have been found acceptable to determine if the cloth meets the stated requirements. If the Government requires proof that the cloth meets the stated requirements, the test methods indicated shall be used.
2.2 Clothing tubing construction. The tubing shall be constructed from the specified cloth with a 45 ± 5 degrees of bias and the angle used within this range shall remain constant throughout the sewing operation. The tubing seams shall be Type SSa-1 of LSA-1 sewn with stitch Type 401 in accordance with FED-STD-751 and sewn at 4 ± 1 stitches per inch. The seam allowance shall be 1/2 ± 1/8 inch. The thread shall be nylon, soft or bonded finish, Size E; 3 ply (minimum breaking strength of 9.0 pounds) for the needle and Size b; 2 or 3 ply (minimum breaking strength of 6.0 pounds0 for the looper. Alternately the thread shall be cotton, 4 ply, natural, Ticket No. 12 and No. 16 for the needle and looper respectively.
2.3 Length and width. The tubing shall be furnished in the lengths and widths specified in table II. The tubing shall be one continuous length or alternately two or more lengths may be placed on one roll provided no single piece is less than 40 linear yards. The total gross weight of the roll shall not exceed 200 pounds.
