COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAPER, WRAPPING, MEAT
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description, for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE: This description covers meat wrapping paper, to be used in the wrapping of meat for delivery from commissaries or stores, and for short periods of refrigerated storage.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Construction. Unless otherwise specified the color of the paper shall be the natural color of its components at the option of the supplier. The wrapping paper shall be made of processed wood fibers, containing no materials which are injurious to human health within the meaning of all provision of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The paper shall be furnished in the form of rolls.
B. Dimensions. The length and width of the rolls shall not be less than specified (see 7a). Rolls, up to and including 508 +/- 3.2 mm (20 +/- 1/8”) widths, need not be wound on a fiber core, provided the ends are fitted with plugs. Rolls, widths 533 +/- 3.2 mm
(21 +/- 1/8”) and over shall be evenly and firmly wound on a fiber core having a inside diameter of 76.2 +/- 3.2 mm (3 +/- 1/8”).
C. Physical Requirements. The paper shall conform to the physical requirements as specified in Table I.
