Printing and writing qualities: The tags shall be tested for printing and writing qualities as follows: Lines or characters shall be drawn or written on both sides of the tag with a medium point “toller ball” type pen. To be considered satisfactory there shall be no feachering of the inked lines or characters.
Workmanship: The tags shall be free from any holes (other than required for stringing), tears, cuts, punctures, creases, folds, cracks, de-lamination, and any ragged or uneven edges. The tags shall be free of any defects adversely affecting appearance or serviceability.
2. QUALITY ASSURANCE: Each lot of tags shall be inspected for conformance to the requirements of this Commercial Item Description. For inspection purposes, a lot shall consist of all tags manufactured under the same conditions. Sampling and acceptance shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105.
Visual, dimensional, and workmanship characteristics- Shall be at Inspection Level S-2 with an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall be one tag.
Tests- The cloth component material shall be tested for applicable characteristics in Table I in accordance with referenced ASTM test methods. The lot size for determining the sample size shall be expressed in units of 100 square yards of cloth material. The test sample unit shall be two pieces of the cloth component with an area of 36 square inches each. Testing shall be at Inspection Level S-2, with an Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) of 4.0.
Packaging, packing and marking- Shall be at Inspection Level S-2 with an AQL of 4.0 percent defective. The sample unit shall be one fully prepared shipping container.
3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: The contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
4. PRESERVATION, PACKAGING, PACKING, LABELING AND MARKING:
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
5. REFERENCED DOCUMENTS:
The issue of each referenced document in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
