COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PAD (MEAT, POULTRY & FISH)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description.
This Commercial Item Description covers paper pads used in the pre-packing of meat, poultry and fish products.
Classification: The pads shall be of the following Types, as specified (see 6.b)
Type I- Low absorbency
Type II- High absorbency
1. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
A. Construction. Type I pads shall be made from water resistant top sheet with sufficient amount of plies of absorbent paper wadding. Type II pads shall consist of sufficient amount of plies of absorbent paper wadding, with polyolefin film on both sides. Both types shall conform to the applicable requirements of this commercial item description and all applicable provisions of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act Food Additive Amendment, 21 CFR Paragraphs 176 & 177. The pads shall be furnished in the form of sheets, perforated to provide individual pads. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.c), the color of the pads shall be white.
B. Dimensions. The dimensions of the pad shall be as specified (6.b), with the tolerances of + 6 mm (+ 1/4”).
