COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STRAPPING, NONMETALLIC (NYLON, FLAT AND CONNECTORS)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Type III of Federal Specification PPP-S-760.
This description covers plastic strapping, nylon, flat; seals, mechanically installed and tensioned; or buckles.
Salient characteristics.
The principal characteristics of nonmetallic strapping are the material, physical dimensions (width, thickness, and length), tensile breaking strength in pounds, elongation, coil size, coil length, and joint efficiency. All of the principal characteristics shall meet ASTM D 3950, Type III.
All connectors (buckles, seals, or welds) shall have a minimum joint strength of 40 percent of the minimum strapping breaking strength contained in ASTM D 3950 table 3.
Workmanship. Strapping shall be straight, clean, and free from kinks, edge curvature, cracks, and other defects that may affect the serviceability.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
