COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PLASTIC SHEET, (POLYETHYLENE, HEAT SHRINKABLE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Type IV of Federal Specification L-P-378.
This description covers biaxially and preferentially oriented, heat shrinkable polyethylene film.
Salient characteristics:
The film furnished under this description shall be flexible unsupported polyethylene film. Unless otherwise specified, the film shall be colorless and transparent. When specified, the film shall be treated to allow printing.
The film shall conform to the physical requirements listed in table I.

The issue of the ASTM standards in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
The film thickness shall be as specified plus or minus 10 percent. The length and width of the film shall be as specified. The tolerance for dimensions up to 30 inches shall be plus or minus 3/16 inches. For dimensions 30 to 50 inches, the tolerance shall be plus or minus 3/8 inch, and for dimensions 50 to 60 inches the tolerance shall be plus or minus 1/2 inch. For widths greater than 120 inches, the tolerance shall be plus or minus 1/8 inch per foot of width.
Roll length shall be not less than specified. Rolls of film shall be furnished on cores having a length equal to or up to 1 inch longer than the actual width or folded width of the film. Cores shall have an inside diameter of not less than 1-1/2 nor more than 6-1/4 inches.
Workmanship. The film shall be uniform in color, texture and finish and shall be as free from gels, fish eyes, unmelted material and foreign material as commercially possible. The material shall be free of holes, tears, cracks, blistering, or mottling.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
