PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION
BARRIER MATERIALS, TRANSPARENT, FLEXIBLE, HEAT-SEALABLE
This specification is approved for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department
of Defense.
1. SCOPE
1.1 Scope. This specification establishes the requirements for transparent, flexible, heat-
sealable barrier materials having waterproof or low water vapor transmission characteristics for
use in military packaging (see 6.1).
1.2 Classification. The barrier materials are furnished in the following types and classes.
Type I Watervaporproof, greaseproof
Class 1 Unlimited use
Class 2 For use on automated bag making machines only.
Type II - Waterproof, greaseproof
Class 1 Unlimited use
Class 2 For use on automated bag making machines only.
Type III - Waterproof
Class 1 Unlimited use
Class 2 For use on automated bag making machines only.
