COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
BAND, PAPER, SHIRT WRAPPING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description.
This description covers the requirements for kraft paper bands designed to encircle and secure folded shirts.
Salient characteristics.
Basis weight. The paper shall have a minimum basis weight of 40 pounds (24 x 36-500) sheets, tested in accordance with TAPPI Method T-410.
Colors. The bands shall be furnished in plain colors of blue, yellow, green, black, and white; printed or unprinted, when specified.
Bursting strength. The minimum bursting strength of the paper shall be not less than 16 pounds when tested in accordance with TAPPI Method T-403.
Adhesive. The bands shall be coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive, on opposite sides, not less than 1-1/2 and not more than 2 inches on each end. The adhesive shall adhere only to itself.
Dimensions. The bands shall have a width of 1-1/4 inches, plus or minus 1/4 inch.
Workmanship. Workmanship shall be in conformance with good commercial practice. The bands shall be squarely, evenly, and uniformly cut and show no evidence of any defect which would affect appearance or serviceability.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
