COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
STRAPPING, NONMETALIC (BONDED
CORD TYPE AND CONNECTORS)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification PPP-S-760, Type I, Grade B Heavy Duty.
This description covers cord strapping, heavy duty; seals, mechanically installed and tensioned; or buckles.
Salient characteristics.
The principal characteristics of nonmetallic strapping are the material physical dimensions (width, thickness, and length); tensile breaking strength in pounds, elongation and coil length; and joint efficiency.
All connectors (buckles, seals, or welds) shall have a minimum joint strength of 40 percent of the minimum strapping breaking strength contained in ASTM D 3950, table 3.
Workmanship. strapping shall be straight, clean, and free of cracks and other defects that may affect the serviceability.
Regulatory requirements. The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials in accordance with Public Law 94-580 to the maximum extent practicable.
Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling and marking. Preservation, packaging, packing, labeling, and marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
