COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TAPE, PAPER, DRY CLEANING, MARKING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use
of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers paper tape for identification of articles to be dry cleaned.
Salient characteristics:
The paper shall be white and shall comply with the requirements of table I.

Basis weight shall be tested in accordance with TAPPI, Method T-410, tear resistance in accordance with
Method T-414, and tensile strength in accordance with Methods T-404 and T-456.
The issue of each TAPPI test method in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with these requirements.
The tape shall be furnished in rolls which may be cut into rectangular tags of any desired length. Rolls shall average 100 yards in length, except no roll shall be less than 98 yards long. No less than two splices in any roll shall be permitted. The width of the tape shall be 15/16 + 1/16 inch.
The tape shall be capable of being marked on either side with indelible mk. Markings shall retain clarity on either side.
Workmanship. The tape shall be clean, with clean-cut edges, and shall be free from wrinkle and tears.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale m the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The packaging and packing shall be in accordance with normal commercial practice and shall assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
